I've been a DAWless guy for a while (volcas, monologue, mininova, zoom r16, midi controller) but have been thinking of having a hoon at ableton. What are your recommendations for gear?
I was thinking of getting an old 27" imac I can dedicate to ableton, an 8 way midi box (for all the volcas) and using the zoom r16 as an interface. I have a axiom 61 as a midi controller, and basically want to do a similair setup as I do dawless (record in loops live) but then sequence the longer song in ableton.
I did my first EP using only the r16 as a multitrack and no computers at all (even mastered on the r16) but thought it might be fun to jump fully into computers, even if i'm using volcas as the sound modules.
Is there any other gear I need, is it worth buying a good book on ableton to get up to speed?
