I am looking for a book that will make the hairs stand up on the back of my neck, make me think a little too much, make my "nope alarm" go blaring. I generally lean towards crime thrillers, and psychological horrors. I'm not a big non-fiction lover, as I prefer to lose myself from the regular world when I read. I have been trying to crack open some of the books in my library to reread, but I'm hoping for some suggestions for hardcopy books and audiobooks. The books in my library range from David Baldacci to Rick Riordan, in addition to some faves from my teen years. The last book I listened to was Stephen Chbosky's Imaginary Friend, and I LOVED it. I don't normally look for for books that have religious undertones, but that was an exception (definitely helped that I wasn't aware of the religious connections till later). I like listening to books like Lisa Jewell's and Robert Bryndza's. I also appreciated the creepier ones I listened to, like Jan Smith's "Killer by Nature" and the Audible Original "Unheard" (that one actually gave me daymares for the next day).
Anyone have suggestions along those lines?
