should I repot my plant so that I can check the soil with my finger?

I just got a succulent with a really nice pot, the only problem is that the pot is just the exact size so that you can only see the plant. I've read that you have to water them each time the soil gets dry and that you're supposed to check it with your finger. Should I repot it?
