How long has the search function been broken in Squarespace?

My search bar has been broken for years now. I have had my website since 2014 but my search bar hasn't been working for at least four years now. I actually forgot it wasn't working until someone sent me a DM that they couldn't find content they were looking for. This is distressing as I feel that SquareSpace's poor UI has affected my traffic. So how long has this been an issue and how can we fix it?
