So I've had smart lights for some time and decided that since Matter is almost two years old now (ish?) and there is seemingly several supported devices, Id give it a try. So I bought the new A19 Nanoleaf Matter bulbs and was going to set them up. I did my research and made sure I had everything, (I have several google nest mini for controllers, as well as two Nest Hub 2s and a Nest Hub Max for Thread Border Routers)
Went to go and set them up and when I set it up through the Google Home app it said I didn't have any Thread Routers in the home and fails, and when I used the Nanoleaf App, I was able to set them up in the app, but then I couldn't integrate it in to the Google Home. I contacted their support and the first thing they said was "It is correct that your Nest hub 2nd generation qualifies as a Matter controller however it needs a gateway device which includes Nanoleaf Shapes, Lines or Elements" (Which I thought defeated the whole purpose of Matter?) and then they said "Our Nanoleaf devices are not compatible with Mesh networks due to the fact that it is streamlined for ease of use and it doesn't allow users to configure or change some advanced settings of the router itself." None of this is on their website or their help guides.
Sorry for the long post, a lot of stuff happened lol. Has anyone tried doing this or had this issue?
