For one I’m sure the ldb is a nord like the neveraine is a dunmer and hero of cyrodil is an imperial.

The game starts you out being almost executed by the empire.

Ralof is closer to you when you escape than hadvar.

In the conference Ulfric seems pretty chummy with Delphine and the ldb

And finally it just makes for a much more dramatic and interesting story if the stormcloaks succeed

Btw I side with the imperials. While no one thing makes it definite for me the accumulation of these little details makes me think the ldb probably hoins stormcloaks and wins the civil war
