This book was posted on Reddit a couple weeks ago because Bill Gates was giving it away for free, so naturally I snagged a copy of it and decided to read it. It begins with a test that made me realize I pretty much don't know anything about the world... You can actually take it here to see how you do: http://forms.gapminder.org/s3/test-2018
It then delves into what he considers the ten biggest misconceptions that we have that distort how we see the world: the Gap instinct, negativity, straight line, fear, size, generalization, destiny, single perspective, blame and urgency. It then breaks them down and discusses how to mitigate each one.
I loved every single chapter because I was able to relate to each and every one of them, noting mistakes I've made in the past and mistakes I've seen other people make. I would say if you're interested in sharpening your skeptical skills pick up this book. I would also say that if you're fed up with all the negativity in the news, pick up this book. It's a refreshing look at the world that isn't about feel good words and positive vibes... it's looking at actual data of how life has been trending these last 200 years.
