As a fan of the original anime, I don't see any hints of the original's core philosophical questions in the new film.
Hopefully they could convey something in the trailer. That "something" seemed completely missing. What remains is a pretty-yet-generic sci-fi action film combined with a typical superhero origin story.
If you enjoyed the Ghost in the Shell anime for more than explosions, gunplay and Kusanagi getting naked, what draws you to the new film -- aside from "it looks pretty and I like Scarlett Johansson"?
