Venting a little here, and I apologize. The city had implemented closures of streets due to covid, to let people be out safely for exercise, or to have some safe outdoor time with their families. I am 100% on board with it. I’m a dog walker here in the city and have had, almost on a daily basis, verbal or almost physical altercations with people using the street as they rightfully should. The problem for me, is that some cars do need to drive down these streets which is also allowed. I drive slowly and cautiously in order to be respectful. It’s actually become worse in the past few days, maybe due to the hot weather. So far I’ve had no end to getting yelled at, people kicking my van as I drive by, and one person standing in front of my door so I couldn’t get out of the car. Especially when it’s hot, I can’t park blocks away and leave a van full of dogs in the hot sun. I’m just seeing a lot of assumptions made. Maybe it’s just me because I drive a graffitied covered van that doesn’t look like a dog walker, but I walk the same street every day and see that it’s not just me. We’re all trying to get through this together and I see a lot of great unity with that, but I also see a lot of jumping the gun to shame people which we also don’t need. I dunno, rant over.
