A recent post here got me thinking about a situation I experienced a few years ago. Wondering what people think about this. A woman I was seeing for a few months went out to see a band with a couple of her female friends. The next day we were talking about her night and she said something about not paying for drinks. I asked what she meant. She told me guys usually buy them for her throughout the night so it’s rare that she pays for any.
For that night, two of her friends were dancing when she came back from the bathroom. She didn’t care much for the song so she went back to her seat at the bar. A guy started talking to her and offered to buy her a drink. She accepted. One drink lead to two as they continued to talk. A little while after the second drink he suggested they go out sometime. At that point she told him she had a boyfriend. She saw nothing wrong with this. I told her guys don’t buy her drinks because they have too much money in their pocket. They find her attractive and want to get to know her so the drink is a nice gesture to possible do that. She wasn’t new to the bar scene. She knew how it works. I think she should have at least told the guy she was taken when he offered the second drink.
I asked me current girlfriend about this. She told me free drinks happen. It’s how you handle the situation that counts.
