I cannot get into old movies for the life of me.
Post Body

I know this is a real death of the sub moment (I'll mention Meg so I don't get dog-piled) but like old movies are so often boring. I watched I love Lucy episodes with my sister when I was younger and I was mildly entertained by it, Its a Wonderful Life and Singing in The Rain bored me to death though. Watched Persona and it was good but if it was 20 more minutes I probably would have killed myself. The only old film I really liked was Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and West Side Story. Marilyn Monroe movies are really off putting for me, like the people who idolize her irritate me so much probably because I'm a seething Queens-cel who hates NYU-ers, It just seems so fake. I'm definitely missing something. Black and white is also not a stylistic choice for those movies and makes the movie inferior compared to modern movies as I can guarantee that all those film-makers whether given the choice between B & W and color would have chosen color but due to budgets it didn't happen.

I'm not trying to be combative I just really don't get it

I consider everything before New Hollywood to be old btw.
