Post Body

Hey everyone!

Welcome to the weekly update 155. This week we will cover a bit of everything. There are new updates from the Raiden Trust, the Raiden team participated in an interesting event and also there is exciting news related to the development progress. Without further ado, Let’s dig in!

Flow Finance - the latest Raiden Trust grant

The Raiden Trust accepted a new project in their program. The Avo Labs team with their project Flows Finance is the third project supported by the Raiden Trust.

This is not the first time the Avo Labs team is interested in building on top of the Raiden protocol. As a part of the Gitcoin Protect Privacy hackathon, they worked on the concept of real-time payments using Raiden and built ouropayments. The proof of concept they built and the experience they gathered during the hackathon served as a starting point for Flows Finance.

The Avo Labs team is open to any questions you might have about the Flows Finance and if you are interested in their progress we suggest checking out their blog and following them on Twitter.

Raiden @ Hello Decentralization

Hello Digital Money is the second side event planned as part of Hello Decentralization. It is a free online event and a meeting point for the community to talk and discuss decentralized technologies from a technical perspective. The event is not only focused on blockchain but aims to give a place and a voice to all the different decentralized technologies, protocols, and projects.

Last Thursday Dominik from the Raiden development team gave a short presentation about the Raiden network titled “Payment Channels - (how) does it work?”. During his 25 minute presentation, he covered basic concepts of the Raiden Network, went over some of the scenarios which occur during the normal operation of the protocol and made a short dive into the source code itself.

Video of the presentation is available for free here. This presentation is a little more technical so, if you are new to the Raiden network, you might not fully understand it . However, there are some nice videos explaining everything from the beginning such as this one.

Development progress

Last week the Raiden development team continued working on the Bespin milestone for the Raiden client and the first mainnet release for the Raiden light client.

The Light client team introduced a new testnet release under the codename Chris. This minor release fixes many of the remaining issues towards a mainnet release. The changelog is vast and many improvements are introduced to both the SDK and the dApp.

The Raiden client team continued with testing and fixing issues found in the process.

Conclusion

This is all for this week. It is very nice to see that Raiden as a project is progressing in all directions: development progress, adoption and presence in the developer community. For any additional questions just leave a comment.

Cheers!
