Hey everyone!
Welcome to Weekly Update 146. This week we will share one very cool PoC that the Raiden team built and we will also update you on the last week’s development progress. Let’s dig in!
M2M Payments Demo with Raiden
Since the early days of the Raiden Network, it was clear that there was a very strong use-case in IoT (Internet of Things) and M2M (Machine to Machine) integrations on Layer 2 of the blockchain. To showcase the potential benefits the Raiden Network can bring to the space, the Raiden team decided to build an M2M micro payments demo using Raiden.
The Blog post contains all the information about the software and hardware used in the demo. What is particularly interesting is that the codebase is around 100 lines of code and transactions are completely decentralized and executed in under 170 ms. The video of the Raiden train demo is available here.
If the demo sparked your interest in the Raiden Network, IoT and M2M payments or you want to provide feedback, feel free to reach out to the Raiden team at [email protected]. Besides, you can also try Raiden here.
Development progress
Strong development progress of the Raiden light client continues. A new testnet release under the codename Makalani was introduced last week . This minor release version focuses on strengthening the stability of the SDK and CLI as well as improving the user experience of interacting with the user deposit contract in the dApp.
The Raiden Services also got a new minor release. The new version of services contains improvements to the registration script and Matrix transport layer.
Conclusion
That’s everything we have for this Weekly Update. We hope that you find the train demo PoC video as exciting as we did. Feel free to give the latest light client a try here. If you have any questions about this update or Raiden Network in general then please don’t hesitate to leave a comment and also feel free to join the Raiden Gitter or some community discussion on Telegram.
Cheers!
