I grew up a punk in a super conservative area of Tennessee in the 90s and hated the attitude of the scene as punk grew in popularity. It all became gatekeeping and this wasn't punk or this wasn't punk. I enjoy the music, love fighting the system, but I can't stand this kind of attitude. I discovered this sub and was so excited but so much of this sub is the same kind of clique gatekeeping. I'm too old for this shit anymore and it's so disappointing. I'll be punk until I die, but damn just let people enjoy the music they want and stop judging. Who cares if someone likes Green Day, or Nofx, or Rancid, or whatever band you think "sold out." Our community has shrunk so much and "punk is dead" and all that BS, so let's support each other, yall. Dang.
