There is one guy, Daniel Siebert, who does Research on salvia divinorum. Salvia is a psychoactive drug that is very special. It has a high about 15 minutes and is considered one of the most powerful Hallucinogen known to man.
I tried it myself and the impressive thing was that my notion of a 'self' was totally destroyed. Normally you have a clear sense where your body physically ends and the outside world begins. My personal experience and a lot of videos on YouTube show that this sense gets severely impaired.
For this reason I believe salvia could be a candidate to find a window to study the subjective perception of a 'self'. Are there any such attempts in research related to psycho analysis?
