Hey guys looking for a ps2 game I can't remember the name of help!

when I was a kid I had a ps2, I loved it. I remember playing this kinda RPG game that had a system where you got and could collect these ball-like creatures (don't remember if you could have more than one or if it was just a trade-off thin). I remember distinctly that depending on certain factors like diet or something along that line they would grow up into different grown-up versions.
Gonna make this clear just to help
- I know I'm not thinking of pokemon
- I'm 90% sure this is not a Digimon game (even tho i does kinda sound like one) but I haven't played any Digimon games to my memory and I looked at the gameplay of a lot of Digimon games to try to find this myself
