Lately I've (25m, recent college graduate) been checking out various meet-ups, events, and Facebook groups for poly in my area, both to make friends and find community but also to expand my poly dating pool.
So far though, all these events are populated by people much older than me. I'd say my partner and I were the only people under 30 at the events we've been to, and usually there's at best one or two people in their early-30s. Everybody else is 35-60.
Now, there's nothing wrong with this, and I'm open to being friends with people much older than me. But, it doesn't really expand my dating pool at all, and even as far as friendships and social support go, I've found that people in the 35-60 range are just in a different life stage and hard to relate to in many ways.
Is this just how it is, or is there some other way to engage with younger members of the community? I've looked for poly groups or events targeted at young people in my area, but have had no luck (also, I'm not kinky, so I can't take advantage of that overlap). I feel like the only place I have seen young poly people are on OkCupid (and even then, not many of them!).
