What are your thoughts when coming up to a scene where a civilian (good guy) has a weapon
Post Body

I just seen the bodycam footage from the Whatcom shooting where civilians returned fire and helped the police. This got me thinking. I had to defend someone else (who was shot) with my weapon (never fired). While rendering aid I had my weapon drawn incase the guy came back. The entire time I was rendering aid my thoughts were what's going to happen when the police show up to a shooting and I have a weapon drawn. In the bodycam footage I saw of the Whatcom shooting I never heard them radio that there were civilians there helping them?

What are your thoughts? What happens? What would you do?

Side note I did holster as soon as I saw the first officer arrive and they were very respectful during the whole encounter.
