Evaluating A Fold That I Feel Guilty About
Post Body

$300 buy-in, $1/$2 cash game local casino.

I'm up to $745 in my stack.

AdKd suited (diamonds), I think I was Hi-Jack or Cutoff. I raise BB to $17. I find four callers. Pot is $71

Flop: As Jd 4c

Two checks, I raise to $20

I get three callers, one folds.

Pot is $151

Turn: Qh

I check.

Button bets $20

I call. One man calls, so does small blind.

Pot is $231

River: Ks

I bet $60, Pot is $291,
everyone folds--except small blind--who goes all in at ~$230.

Small blind had called me a NIT early in the game, I'd beaten him in two hands and he'd beaten me in one. He had recently moved from my immediate right to be spaced 3 to my left and 3 to my right.

$170 to call, I don't have the balls and fear trips or a broadway straight. Small blind tells me he'll show his cards if I fold.

I fold, he shows me his bluff: Jc2c. I had him with two pair, Aces Over Kings, which I consider a moderately weak hand, especially against this board texture. Fun fact: Under The Gun folded trip 4s after the turn.

I lose $117, end up walking home with around $580 after a couple more hands. All I can think about is how I would have walked home with about $780 profit, instead of $280 profit.

Was this a good or bad fold? Good or Bad bet progression? How do I read bluffs better?
Any other lessons I could learn from this round of poker?

Would have still been in the black if I had called and lost to a better hand on this round. I definitely deliberated on the decision for several minutes, but let fear and conservatism get to me.
