I started playing Pokémon go on the day it came out but stopped playing in mid-2017 and then started playing again in early 2019 and have been playing ever since. When I resumed playing in 2019, it was interesting to look back at the Pokémon I had caught before and see the exact city they were caught in. This was working perfectly until April 2019.
I live in the UK and I travel within England quite often, so I used to love seeing where each Pokémon was caught. However since April 2019 it only says "England, United Kingdom" as the location for everything I catch, which is incredibly annoying because I spend 99.9% of my time in England so now I have no idea where any of my Pokémon were caught. On the rare occasions I visit Wales, I try to catch as many Pokémon as I can just to get a bit of variety in the catch location as it says "Wales, United Kingdom".
When the problem first began, I had a Samsung galaxy S6 and when I got the S9 a few months later, I had hoped the problem might have resolved but it didn't. I also remember at the time the catch location issue was on niantic's known issues page, but disappeared from there a long while back.
I have also recently noticed that all my friends have the correct catch location for their Pokémon, and whenever I get sent gifts from people it has a city in the catch location. Also when I do remote raids with people outside the UK, the catch location on my phone will include the city, but if I do a remote raid within the UK, it will just say England.
So now I'm just wondering, does anyone know if there is a way to solve the problem and get a city back in the catch location instead of it just being the entire country?
This has been annoying me for some time now and I would be incredibly grateful if anyone had any answers.
Many thanks
