So I used to lift after work and stayed in pretty good shape since a teenager. Then I was in an accident that broke 7 of my vertebrae and damaged a significant part of my spinal cord. I was initially paralyzed from the neck down, I could only take shallow breaths and put on a ventilator. After a few weeks I started to use my right foot a little, a few weeks after that I started to move my right arm. Eventually, after months of fight, I could kinda walk. I still can't use my left hand, my whole left side is not super functional, but I train and keep getting stronger. I'm healthy and I feel okay. I still can't feel temperature, hunger, thirst, or a pump.
The biggest lesson I learned: You don't how lucky you are, cherish every minute.
