People have been saying for about a year or so that jobs are everywhere, everyone's hiring, etc. I've heard some people say that companies are pretending to be hiring then claiming no one's applying to collect some sort of government aid. I've put out lots of applications and not gotten a single interview. Additionally, Indeed shows how many people have applied once you have.
Examples: 85, 50, 115, 475, 1015, 1435, 1260, 170, 425.
I mean...what? Is this the number of applicants to the company over all of time or just the current open position? If the latter, these are terrible odds. How do I get chosen over 49 or 1,259 or 1,434 people? I need a job. I haven't worked in months, which is something I never do. My last place of employment, I was with them full-time for over 8 years.
