First off, I read the rules and FAQs, and I really hope I do this right. Also please note that I am not asking for donations.
So there are 4 of us living in one house. One of us owns said house. Here is a brief rundown:
- Person 1: This is the home owner. She is unemployed, but actively seeking employment. Two job prospects that seemed solid have fallen through.
- Person 2: This is a roommate that is working and bringing in about $400 per paycheck. Not sure if that's weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.
- Person 3: This is a roommate that is working, but isn't getting nearly enough hours despite her tactful requests for more hours, and despite being very hardworking and knowing how to do more than most of her coworkers.
- Person 4: That would be me. I am having a ton of significant health issues, and I am working on getting an official diagnosis. But I do not qualify for health insurance, and I cannot support myself financially due to said illness. This has been going on for 10 years and has nearly left me homeless. I have a doctor's appointment in two days and I am hoping for some answers. I also do small side jobs as my health allows.
So we have homeowners taxes due next Tuesday. It is $150. (Again, I am not asking for donations). We aren't sure what we're going to do, because that due date falls at a bad time. Our water pipe recently burst, causing $1,000 in damage, which also probably created an astronomical water bill. Our washing machine also broke, and it will be cheaper for us to just replace it. And we're having Thanksgiving at our house this year. Needless to say, we're stressing.
Person #2 is able to cover basic expenses (car insurance and gas, heating and cooling, internet, etc). Person #3 is able to cover food, toilet paper, and one or two other very small expenses. That leaves me, Person #4. I do side jobs (online writing projects) when I am able. One client owes me $160, but she can't get it to me until January because she and her husband have 3 kids and she is the only one steadily working. I am working on another project, but won't be finished until after the homeowner's taxes are due. I am pushing myself as much as I can as it is.
So I asked the homeowner if she could get an extension, and she said that an extension would cost money, too. The kicker is that we don't need an extra 4 months, 6 months, or another year. We need about another week, tops. I just need 7 days or so to finish the writing project I'm working on.
So what are our options? We need ideas! Thanks!
