I'm a US citizen currently living in Mexico, eventually immigrating to Spain. I am an independent contractor to US companies, and starting my own LLC sometime this year for other freelance work, and also another LLC for a boutique travel agency that I've been building (all US-sourced income).
I have lived in poverty most of my life so I've never been able to save or invest, but now that I'm making more money and I have a family to worry about, I'm trying really hard to learn more about financial instruments and what my best route for investment and retirements would be. Unfortunately, a lot of the information available is not geared to my unique life circumstances.
I've looked into opening investment accounts but a lot of companies won't open an account for me because I'm not living in the US.
Would anybody like to weigh in on what kind of account would be best for me, and what company would be appropriate to work with?
