[Tech Support] Steam start up issues and game crashes

So this is a mix of PC and OSX issues.

OSX:

-Upon starting Steam I get a "Updating Steam... Verifying Installation" box with a "Progress" bar. It hets stuck here and nothing else can be interacted with sometimes or at very best response time is is HEAVILY increased. Have had to restart laptop several times, no change. Not much found on forums for help either.

PC:

-Same machine. Steam starts up on my PC boot but CS:GO has a tendency to crash. Also resolution selections are only limited to 2 options (1280x800, 1280x720). Not normally an issue but sometimes I need to sacrifice graphics for frames. I normally play CSGO on OSX because I get better performance (somehow) but having to play on my PC boot means I'm going to have to finally address this issue.
