Which old and seemingly dead series/titles would you like to see a new game of?
Post Body

These are my choices:

Duke Nukem

Duke Nukem is my favourite video game character of all time. I am juvenile and I think he's hilarious. In Duke Nukem Forever all he does is say dumb stuff and oneliners, and everybody absolutely loves him. The obscenity and "bad humour" make a standard shooter really fun to play. I only realized it this year.

As a kid I played Duke Nukem I, II and 3D, a lot. And, like many, I've waited forever for Duke Nukem Forever. In 2011 I got it on release. But, apparently, I wasn't interested at all in the game. Maybe I was done with shooters in general, or maybe Duke Nukem wasn't my boy anymore. My achievements record show I played it for less than 2 weeks before I stopped. And I never continued after that.

Untill that is... just a few days ago. I don't know why but I looked at my game collection and I just grabbed Duke Nukem Forever, I put it in my Xbox and I finished it in two days, while laughing like a childish idiot. After completing the campaign it made me very melancholic. I realized Duke Nukem is a hero from a different age, a relic of the past. We will probably never see him again. And if we do, a lot of people will probably be offended, maybe outraged even. There's just no place for the Duke in the 2020's. And I get it, sort of. But still, hail to the king, baby.

Perfect Dark

I only started Perfect Dark Zero in 2019 and, although the story did nothing for me at all, I really liked it. I think it's because I was getting tired of all the newer games that hold your hand all the time. If I choose the hardest difficulty, I really want to be destroyed, shown no mercy. And god damn it Perfect Dark Zero does not SHOW MERCY, at all. It is hard and unforgiving, even on the 2nd of the 4 difficulties and especially on the 3th (I can't even try the 4th yet). And I loved the game for it. It was like an abusive relationship. I laughed everytime I got stomped. I enjoyed dying all the time, dying just to get one bit closer to the end of the mission, only to be forced to try again from the start.

I am not really sure why Perfect Dark Zero was generally disliked. But I know it was, else we would have seen a sequel long ago. I did hear some rumours about a new game recently, but I don't know the truth to it all.

(I have played the original Perfect Dark for a bit, but I didn't like it because of the controls. I haven't played it long enough to form a proper opinion about it.)

Mirror's Edge

This game is a milestone in video game history. I'm sure a lot of people would disagree, also since the game wasn't a particular succes, but I think it's great. The gameplay is really unique and it can be quite hard at times. I often compare this game to Perfect Dark Zero. I also started this game over ten years after release, this game is also meant to be played in a trial and error kinda way and it barely helps you/holds your hand. Mirror's Edge Catalyst is even better, in certain ways, since it plays more smoothly.

Like the previous two games I don't think we will ever see a another sequel to this one, which is sad. I guess the world wasn't ready for the PARKOUR!

Age of Mythology

Yes, I know a new Age of Empires is coming, I know Age of Mythology got an extended edition in 2014 and an expansion in 2016, the problem is, the DLC Tale of the Dragon absolutely sucked, big time. I never say a game is "garbage" or "trash" or "sucked", but Tale of the Dragon is an absolute shitfest. It is so horrible I don't want to talk about it anymore. They've done my favourite game of all time bad. And meanwhile, the number one son Age of Empires gets all the attention. Microsoft would probably even forget Age of Mythology's birthday and give the 30th incarnation of Age of Empires II presents instead.

Now that I think about it, I'm not even sure I want to see a sequel or another expansion to this one...

Prince of Persia

There is more than one reason why I hate Assassin's Creed, but the most important one is: it killed my favourite middle eastern guy. The Two Thrones is still in my personal Top something, probably mostly because of nostalgia, but still. Still I like to see a sequel and I like to see the Prince doing inhuman athletic stuff again in a dreamy 1001-nights-setting.

I've heard that a remaster/remake of The Sands of Time is coming (or is it already here?), but I do not really care about that, I've already played The Sand of Time, a lot (for the same reason I'm not interested in the Mass Effect Legendary thing). I want to see a new adventure.

(If I sound a bit negative, or like a hater, it's not meant that way. It's meant all in good fun.)

Which old titles or seemingly dead series would you like to see a new game of? And do you agree with my choices?
