Got my OWXR in October. Ventured out a mile or two here and there, but always seemed to have problems. Had a few yard sales and scuffed palms, beat up my fender, experienced terrifying wobbling, and then sprained my ankle some kind of awful... so I was off EVERYTHING for like 2 months. Have been gingerly trying to get back out there on the few nice days we've had in December, but was really tentative and cautious and, honestly scared. So I found this one block nearby with perfect, new pavement (a rarity in DC) and practiced riding back and forth when I could. Today was nice out, so I thought I would go do my one-block practicing. Did one loop and decided, "Screw it! Do or die, I'm taking this thing on a ride!" And I DID! Criss crossed through my neighborhood a bit, finally started to get the feel for carving, and then started feeling particularly adventurous and decided to ride down into Rock Creek Park. I'm sure literally everyone in DC already knows this, but Beach Drive is gorgeous fresh pavement and CLOSED TO MOTOR VEHICLES! It was awesome. Couldn't stop smiling. I finally know what all the fuss is about. I can't WAIT to go back out again. haha
