This is a very niche reference but those who do know, will probably understand. Reading classic regency literature as a young girl, I always wanted to be Elizabeth or Jane, as I'm sure every girl would. But growing up has made me realise that I'm not either and I'd never have a Darcy writing me a letter or warming up to to me after being a dick to me. What a cute literary fantasy really. I couldn't even be Lydia because I'm not confident enough like her. If I were beautiful, being Jane would've been easier because I do relate to her other qualities as being kind and forgiving and trusting. But am not beautiful like either of them. I'm a rambler and would never be a muse just because no one would be interested in me. This would've been different if I were beautiful though. Charlotte is a perfectly fine woman but she isn't strikingly beautiful to secure someone like Bingley or Darcy. I do not want a Mr. Collins, being a spinster might be a less unkind resolution of my situation. I'm just sad because no one would find me the most beautiful creature ever beheld...
