Half Life: Alyx with Ryzen 7 2700x

Hello! I am experiencing some frame stuttering and it appears to be coming from the cpu side. Not unplayable but still annoying. I am running a 3080 and a Ryzen 7 2700x with a Rift S. I was thinking about upgrading to an i9-9900k or a Ryzen 3900x but I wanted to make an informed decision. Should I be able to run Half life with no problem with what I have? It occurs on all performance settings.
