Rift with gaming Laptop ossue

Hello everyone,

I am running a Rift on the following laptop https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834846150

It works great (for what it is), but after some time the laptop display shuts off, and stops mirroring. The only way to get it back is a sort of dance between unplugging the laptop, booting up on battery, and then plugging it back in (a few times).

Has anyone been able to resolve these types of issues before? This was a present to my nieces and nephews, and this laptop is a sort of 6 month temporary thing before I build them a gaming desktop.
