Beach Recommendations

I've never been to the beach out here in my two years living here. I'm totally up for driving out to Long Island for a beach that's not as crowded and is good for swimming. Don't really care if there's food or restrooms or picnic stuff available. Really just looking for somewhere that won't be a zoo where I can get in the water for a few hours. Any recommendations?
