I have been an LPN for less then a year now, and my biggest challenge I have yet to face is the smell of colostomy bag. This one particular pt I had: I had to change the bag and during the care, there was an explosion of smell. The kind of smell that would make your rectum gag and turn your eyes as watery as the ocean.I held in the gag reflex but I was in tears, it was the longest 30 seconds of my life. Any tips on how to deal with the smell so I donβt accidentally puke in my mask in front of the patient?
