I am an ER Nurse, I’m usually the one one from my unit that responds to codes in other units, one night little after 3am we hear the code come through the intercoms, “CODE BLUE rehab bed 331, CODE BLUE rehab bed 331” so we rush up the stairs, I fly past our house supervisor and she asks, what room is it, I reply 331, she says wait, and calls the front desk to verify the room, “ Are you sure it’s not 231?” They respond with “No it’s 331, the board is showing 331” she then requests security be sent to room 331 as well, she tells me that there is no one in that room, we arrive to the floor and see the code blue light flashing outside the room but the door was locked, security opens it and we walk into an empty room and deactivate the code button on the wall. We all look at each other and start joking about it and head back to our departments, we all felt a little chill up our spines and wonder what or who set off the alarm. That same night I saw a patient laying in one of my assigned beds out of the corner of my eye, I turn to introduce myself but there was no one there, I went about my night not paying much attention to it, at this point I just ignore it or pretend it didn’t happen.
