Part 1 Part 2

It's been a year since my last update, but I was finally released. I got the all clear from the doctors and I can finally go home again.

I wasn't sure if I wanted to keep going with this, things got so much worse when I did. What happened.... I can't. I have to continue.

After the investigation I went back home. The eyes vanished again, but I never forgot. Last time when they vanished it took a few days for them to find me again. So I waited, and waited, and waited.

Eventually I forgot about them, I wondered what I was waiting for. Maybe it was just my imagination all those years. I did have a fairly active one.

I went about my life, got another Dog, went back to university, got a job and nothing seemed to happen. Every once in awhile I thought I saw them, but it was only ever from the corner of my eyes, and never when I looked straight at it.

Years went by, I dated, got a promotion, got dumped, got fired, lost my apartment, got a new one and a new job. You know, normal stuff.

I remember the night it started again, November 11, 2012. The night I met the love of my life, and my wife.

I'm not going to bore you with the details, but suffice to say that night they came back. I went to bed that night, perfectly happy with how the date went, incredibly happy.

I don't know what woke me up that night, I'm usually a very sound sleeper, but this night I kept waking up what seemed like every half hour.

At around 4-5 am my cat was hissing at the window, back arched, fur all bristly and the deep growling coming from outside.

I thought it was just a bobcat or something, maybe my cat could smell it. That was when I looked out the window and saw it, the eyes. They came back.

I immediately closed all the windows and made sure they were all locked, as well as the doors. When I finished checking on everything, my cat was sleeping in her bed, like nothing ever happened. I wondered if maybe it was just my imagination.

The next night there was nothing outside the window again, same with the night after that. The next time it reappeared was when I had my second date.

When I woke up that night, I knew it was there without even looking. My cat wasn't hissing that night, whatever it was had obviously gained her approval.

A few more weeks went by with no sign, we went on more dates and she started to open up more and more. Eventually she spent the night over at my place, they were there once more.

I didn't wake up that night, she did. December 5th, at 3 am she woke me up screaming. They were outside the window once more.

I lept out of the bed, grabbed one of my swords (i'm a martial artist) and prepared to run outside the room before I realized what was happened. My cat wasn't hissing, it was perfectly calm, if annoyed that we had interrupted her sleep, and the eyes had gone once more.

I decided that I should probably tell her what was happening, and if she thought I was crazy well better to know then.

I spend the next few hours telling her everything, at first she thought it was just a silly story I was telling her to make her forget about the eyes and calm down, but as I kept going she kept making furtive glances at the door. When I finished, she grabbed her clothes and left without a word.

The eyes were at the window for only a few seconds before they vanished. Dreading what would happen I tried to run after her, but it was too late. She had already driven away.

I tried to call her immediately, but got no answer. I wouldn't find out why until a few days later when she came back to my place once more.

She told me she got into a car accident. A drunk driver had been driving down the wrong lane. He had swerved at the last second, narrowly missing her car, but she still ended up in the ditch. Her phone had broken on impact and she was pretty bruised, but she was ok. She had spent the next day in the hospital with her parents and didn't actually remember what my number was. The curse of having a portable computer in your pocket at all times.

She told me she drove around for an hour before finally finding my place.

Her voice got very quiet as she spoke, to the point where it was almost a whisper. "Right before it happened, I saw them again. Right in the ditch beside the road. I didn't tell the police or the EMT's, but the driver didn't swerve. The car jerked as if something slammed into the door.

I held her as she cried and she apologized for leaving, for not believing me. She told me she would have died if it weren't for whatever that thing was.

I'm going to skip ahead because pretty much nothing happens for about a year. The eyes don't appear by the window very often, my girlfriend sees them every once in awhile, usually right before something weird happens, but she ends up being ok. A pane of glass fell from a building and just missed her. She had stopped to pick up a toonie off the ground and saw the eyes in an alleyway beside the building. That ten second stop is what made the difference between a terrified woman, and a dead one.

Eventually, we just kind of accepted it in our lives. I said before that it protected me in the past, and everything that happened at the fertilizer plant really didn't seem like something it had done. I didn't get the dreams anymore either. Everything was good, we were fine.
