NFL Week 9 Predictions Thread (2021 Season)
Post Body

Trying this again since my morning post got removed and the mods haven't approved it yet.

Happy November, /r/NFL! Temps are dropping and we're getting into cold weather game territory now. We had a couple of really wild ones last week and hopefully we'll see more of that this week and really shake things up. This week we have four teams on byes, with three divisional matchups waiting for us. My picks last week were slightly better, but still kind of meh, getting me 9-6, bringing me to 84-38 on the season. Post your results and your picks for this week. Let's get to it!

Winner Loser Comments
Colts over Jets Although the Jets won surprisingly last week, I don't think that's going to carry over into this game. Indy had some terrible decision-making by Wentz, but I think he bounces back. Mike White is the underdog of the week, but I don't think he's going to throw another 400 yds this week. Should be a good matchup between two teams trying to right things mid-season.
Bengals over Browns Cincinnati lost last week thanks to a poor defensive gameplan. The Browns will be playing lights out, but they're just too banged up and heavily reliant on the run game, which is an area the Bengals' defense thrives. At home, Joe Burrow puts on a show throwing bombs to Chase.
Cowboys over Brconcos Denver has the second-best scoring defense in the league, but that was before they lost Von Miller to the Rams. It'll be interesting to see if they can keep pace with Dak and a top-ranked offense. I don't see the rest of the season looking that bright for the Broncos.
Dolphins over Texans This game is gonna be ugly and nasty. Two of the wrost scoring offenses in the NFL will meet up Sunday and do... something. Picking the home team on this one because someone's bound to be in the stands paying for this thing and I just feel bad for them.
Saints over Falcons It's FTF week! Siemian is most likely the starter, while Hill coming back will resume his gadget QB role. But like with the Tompa Bay game, the defense is the star of the show and they will dominate, keeping Matt Ryan pressured the whole time. If you think last week was loud, wait till you see the Who Dat Nation at home playing the Dirty Birds.
Raiders over Giants The Giants have been right in there for many of the games we were expecting them to get blown out, so credit to them. But Vegas has won two straight games since Gruden resigned, and the bye week gives them ample rest and preparation while the Giants are playing on a short week and going cross-country. Carr shines again, sans Ruggs.
Patriots over Panthers Mac Jones is slowly winning ugly games, winning three of the last four games playing efficient football. Darnold is having trouble getting above 200 passing yds, which is not sustainable in today's NFL. The Pats continue to grind away, winning another close road game.
Bills over Jaguars The Bills have the league's top-scoring defense and a balanced offense. A road game down to Duval County is not going to be an issue for them. The Jags are double-digit underdogs at home. Trevor Lawrence will make some meaningless plays and score a late-game TD, but that's about it.
Ravens over Vikings Baltimore at home off a bye going against a struggling Vikings team that played well against Dallas but still lost in depressing fashion. The inconsistencies on offense lead one to doubt Cousins long-term role on the team. They keep it close at the beginning, but ultimately the game runs away from them in the second half.
Chargers over Eagles I'm kind of excited about this game. A Herbert and Hurts matchup looks to be great TV time. Philly being 0-3 at home going in to yet another home game does not bode well for them, but maybe they'll pick it up this week. Both teams coaches are in their first year, so it'll be interesting to see how they play against each other. I think the Chargers' offense is slightly better in this matchup, so I'll give L.A. the win by less than a TD.
Chiefs over Packers Well I had this big comment about how this was the State Farm Bowl and how both QBs are going to ball out. But Rodger has COVID because he straight up didn't get vaccinated, so now we're left with Mahomes vs Love. It'll be nice to see what the sophomore can do, but I don't see Green Bay winning this one, even with all the woes the Chiefs have had.
Cardinals over 49ers With both Murray and Watt up in the air for this game, the advantage shifts dramatically in San Fran's favor. The Niners can control the clock with Mitchell, who is coming off back-to-back 100-yd games. Even with key players out, Arizona can still take control of this game, so San Fran will need to score early and keep the pressure on the Cardinals. This could be a close one.
Rams over Titans The one formidable weapon Tennessee had against the Rams is sidelined with a foot injury. This will be a slaughter. Acquiring Von Miller this week brings them that much closer to winning the NFC.
Steelers over Bears This game is gonna be gross. Pittsburgh won three straight ugly games, and this week will be no exception. Fields shows promise, but he's not here yet and he's going to be up against Watt. Expect a low-scoring defensive brawl on Monday night.

Byes: Lions, Seahawks, Buccaneers, Washington

Those are my predictions, let's hear yours. Keep it civil and fun. Good luck!
