Is doing the quests worth it?

Hello! I'm very new to Neopets (three days news) and I'm a bit lost with all the contents. I've seen all those quests that require you to bring stuff to them and I wonder if they are worth it? As I'm very new, I have to buy what those people require, most of the time and I don't know if the rewards they might give is worth all the NP. Thank you!
