I'm 42. I'm totally disillusioned with my career of 12 years. I work in tech support, and I just can't do it anymore. I'm in the process of making a change by moving out of the country, but it will take a couple of years to do it right. I'm not making enough money (~36k) and I've been in Tech Support for over ten years. I need to make more money, but I've interviewed within a 100 mile radius of my home and I cannot get a better job. I feel like I've wasted my life training myself in this career, so I'd like to do something to get me out of the country. I just want to save up a few thousand and be independent, but I have no idea where to start. How do I find something to do on my own while preserving my current job? I should add that I have a 1 year old at home, which doesn't make any of this any easier for the time being! Anyone know anything a relatively smart, self-motivated person could do to make 45K or so for the next few years? I'm open to suggestions; flamers and trolls please go somewhere else...
