The notification of an unread message, the notification on your phone, the connection.
Stories exchanged, the sounds of laughter in seperate spaces, but shared together, the connection.
The discovery of another person. Their daily lives, their music, their likes and dislikes, their hopes and dreams, the connection.
Slowly, almost without intention a friendship grows. Perhaps more than a friendship. With each passing day, two seperate entities become more entwined, the connection.
Finally, there is an opening to meet in person. The day draws near, two hearts fluttering in anticipation of the forbidden, seperate, yet so connected.
Eye contact is made. Electricity flows between two souls at that moment. It is almost as if the entire world pauses in that moment. The hum and buzz of our surroundings all lower in intensity. The world momentarily stops turning. The stars and planets all halt in their orbits for a single second from the power of that connection.
Finally the walls inside of us can finally come down. We can each view the real person within, not just the facade we present to the world around us. We have entered a private world of just us, free of judgement or preconception. Our true self can be presented to another person without hesitation, the connection.
The touch of your hand, the brush of your arm, two individuals melding in the moment. Fingers intertwined, legs wrapped around each other, our scents comingling, the connection.
As we lay there, the rarity of the circumstance is not lost on us. The unlikelyhood of two people finding what we have found. The stars must hsve truely aligned for each of us to find our person, to find our connection.
