Typical, in this case, means anything that isn’t a earth pony, (standard) unicorn, pegasus, or alicorn. Clarifying more, the standard unicorns are ponies like Shining Armor or Rarity, not to confuse them with an umbrum (so what Sombra & other shadow ponies according to comics & wikis). Just wanna know people’s favs that aren’t the top four basic answers.

For me, it’s gotta be the OG changelings. They had a cool idea with an ok premise. And right here, I’ll put that in not justify anything Queen Chrysalis or what the other changelings did, but I do enjoy the lore and despite the awful things, awful crimes ≠ bad character. Bad characters are written poorly and good characters are written well. If I considered all characters bad because of the crimes they did, and not how well they were written or their role in the story, I wouldn’t like any villains. While I don’t like Starlight’s redemption, or Discord sometimes, I can’t deny that they are well written and good, even if I joke about the opposite. :P

With that out of the way, I liked how the changelings were. They could change who they were, be whoever they wanted to. But there was one catch: they needed to feed in love. I liked that premise and in the early days of me being a fan, I created characters and stories about changelings. In fact, my sona is kinda half changeling, I was inspired that much lol. Those stories will not see the light of day if I can help it .

I guess my love sorta fell off once Thorax came. While I admired him, he sorta just took away why I liked the changelings. I related to them because no matter how hard Chrysalis or any changeling tried to be a normal pony, they just couldn’t be because any form of love made them start loosing it. And for a while, I sorta had a similar feeling of not being able to fit in no matter how hard I tried. There was just something holding me back. I still like the changelings but I pay no mind to the newer ones. I’m sure they have struggles, we all do, but I just find them boring if I’m honest.
