Hey Rideit,

I am in a dilemma about buying this CB750 nighthawk. It is priced at $1200 and needs front calipers, air intake boots & carbs tune-up. The seats are worn and it has its share of wear and tear. It starts up like a charm from cold conditions. I want to build a cafe racer. Inspiration -- though not expecting the exact quality finish.

This will be my first motorcycle. I have 3 years of riding experience in 200cc motorcycles. I have cleared done MSF. But I am out of touch for 3 years since I went to Grad School.

So here is the catch. I have not done any motorcycle maintenance in the past. However I won't say that I am not mechanically inclined. I am up for small things like oil change, handle bar replacement etc, but stuff like engine rebuild, carb rebuild intimidates me. I don't have any biker friends with enough experience under their belts to help me out. Do you think I can survive solely with the Internets by my side? How much time/money would it cost? (Financially constrained, otherwise would have opted a post 2008 CBR600RR)
