Apprenticeship and School

Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone could lend me some advice. So I start mortuary school in June and I was wondering if I should start my apprenticeship now or wait until school starts or wait way later. I don't know what to expect on that end. Who do I even contact and how do I go about doing that? Thank you for reading and for your comments.
Edit: Also are most apprenticeships paid positions? And if it's not, is it polite to negotiate?
