Why is Reddit so republican?

Post Body

Specifically within the context of the U.K. The royal family are hugely popular in the U.K. (and abroad). Everyone I know, young and old, who I've spoken to about them are in favour of supporting them and find the idea of abolishing the monarchy abhorrent. Polls consistently show that the monarchy commands huge support, and even the most republican-leaning age group, the 18-24s, still on the whole support keeping them. (And that's not even to mention that there isn't a single solid reason in favour of abolition...)

So why does every single Reddit post/comment regarding the monarchy read like a Cromwellian propaganda post? Are redditors really that out of touch? Is it bots? Astroturfing? Or something else?
