Jet ski or mud motor?

Post Body

There are a lot of small lakes and rivers I want to explore, but my 14 ft aluminum boat with a regular two-stroke outboard just won't get through a lot of them because of shallow water and rocks.

For $1,500 would it make more sense to get a long tail mud motor for my existing boat or a cheaper jet ski? I'm not afraid to work on stuff and from what I've seen a lot of the PWCs at that price point are not all that bad since there are so many of them up here.

I've ridden jet skis before, and I've had little fishing boats like this since for the last two and a half decades so I'm not new to being on the water. Just wondering if anyone is using either of these options with great success or if they've tried them and had a lot of disappointment.
