Hi everyone, I know there are so many posts on this sub-reddit about how to get into the mines, I’ve read so many posts the words are swimming on my screen.
I would like to ask for some advice on how to upskill myself to make myself more desirable and if there are any stories of people in similar positions to me.
I have been a Brisbane City Council Bus Driver for over 3 years, driven every single bus including articulated buses except for a double decker. I have my HR and forklift license. I am currently still based in Brisbane but willing to move.
I am trying to find a haul/dump truck job as I believe this would be the best transfer of skill set. I have seen courses and training for CAT 737, 777 and multiple other trucks but I am not sure which one to do, and if it is even worth doing these before applying.
Is it also worth engaging in a service like ‘underground training australia’ to help with my resume and get some ‘mining industry knowledge’?
A lot of the jobs I see also require at least 12-months experience in a mine, which I do not have. Is the only entry level job these days offsider drilling? Or is it still possible to get an entry level truck driving job?
I am willing to do whatever I can to improve my chances, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
You need to identify as something, trans indigenous woman is the triple crown at the moment so put that on ya resume and you'll go to the top of the list.
