SNES games that have been remade
Post Body

In case you're like me and you don't like double dipping on games, here's a list of games that have been remade for outside of the SNES

Game Remade System Comment
Aero the Acro-Bat GBA Nothing new was added as far as I can tell. Music and framerate isn't that great, stick to the SNES
Battletoads & Double Dragon
Battletoads in Battlemaniacs
Blackthorne GBA,32X,Mac,DOS The GBA being the worst had compromised graphics to fit it onto the system, while the DOS ran on midi. The Mac had a higher resolution but the Sega32X is the one that had better colour and graphics and 4 new levels. This sometimes translates to it being a bit more blurry in some levels. The SNES is not bad if you prefer crisper lines.
Brandish PSP A complete 3D Remake titled Brandish: The Dark Revenant
Breath of Fire I GBA Minor graphical update to match the art of Breath of Fire II, as well as new features item trading and a new menu
Breath of Fire II GBA Minor visual upgrade to macth Breath of Fire IV as well as new features such as a dash button and item trading from the previous re-release
Bubsy in Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind & Bubsy 2 PC A straight up port on steam with the added feature of saving anywhere(akin to save state the SNES offer), speaking of which Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back will be coming out on October 31st 2017, so it would be idea for those who want everything in one system.
Bust-a-Move/Puzzle Bobble Various All of them are the same port, with the Neo Geo and the PC running slightly better but not noticeably.
Castlevania: Dracula X PSP Dracula X is a remake of the Rondo of Blood with gameplay and map variance while the PSP Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles is a more faithful remake in 2.5D and includes a bonus game Symphony of the Nights. The game features redone scripts and voice acting along with boss rush and mini games. Both games can be played in companion with each other, but if you're looking for a Rondo of Blood remake, play the Dracula X Chronicles.
Civilization 1 Lol Look for the Sid Meier's CivNet
Contra III
Chrono Trigger DS,iOS,android Features FMV from the PS1, with control schemes choice to switch between (touch and snes), Chrono Cross tie ins, TWO SCREENS, self completing map, new songs, new quest, and new locations... gasp... play this version!
Dragon Quest I II, III ios/android/ps4/3ds Under revision I and II for the GBC adds new features such as quicksave, banks, and a new UI. Grinding is also cut down. Moving forward to mobile and above, the newer generation console benefited from this as well as redrawn enemies and for the 3ds a second screen exclusively for the world map. The 3DS and PS4 has not been localized yet but the mobile versions have been. Largely not much has changed in the remakes.
Donkey Kong Country 1,2,3 GBA Game features new bosses, new levels and new secrets but at the cost of better sound and graphics. Compared to the Mario Advance ports, these changes were a lot more noticeable.
DOOM Everything but a toaster Get the Ultimate Doom or Reboot just for easier controls and a better compilation with extra levels
Doom Troopers Sega Genesis Genesis just has better sound and graphics overall
Earthworm Jim 1,2 PC Two version exist, a remastered one for the Sega CD and windows 95 with new music and extended levels and a remake. The remake is an HD version that's only avaliable on the Xbox live Arcade and PlayStation 3. It's missing secrets from the Sega CD and windows 95 but has new bosses and new levels of its own.
Fatal Fury 1,2,Special Neo Geo The snes is an attempt at a port, but strips down key elements such as lanes and characters... stick to the Neo Geo
Final Fantasy IV, V, VI GBA,PSP,PC IV has been remade with 3d graphics on the ds,ios, and pc but that strips down the extra dungeons, while the psp complete years retain everything and opt for redrawn sprite as oppose to 3D graphics. V, VI on the other hand has only been remade for the GBA and IOS and PC. All 3 versions have been redone with bonus dungeons and super bosses but the IOS and PC have new sprites... that is a bit hit and miss. The Playstation has FMV sequence.
Final Fight 1 iOS, PSP, Mega/Sega CD Unless you're playing Final Fight Guy, the SNES version removes co-op and characters and heavily censored. Try to find any other version that emulates the original arcade.
Forgotten Worlds
Gun Force
Killer Instinct Xbox One The Snes suffers from a strip down from the arcade version. Various animations and sound were removed. The Xbox One is one place to find the original arcade along with some extras such as training, cut scenes and version selections. Killer Instinct does have sequels called Killer Instinct Gold for the N64 and Killer Instinct 3 for Xbox One and Windows 10.
Kirby Super Star
Gradius III PS2,PSP The well known Gradius initially started from an arcade cabinets. Being a port, the SNES does is best to recreate the 3rd in this series but somethings don't make it. The SNES had to remove some levels, boss, sound effects, and escape sequence, the bonus secret bosses and renders the 3D graphics in 16bit pixel form. The extra stages don't make it either. While the SNES does a good job, if you want the complete package try the arcade or PS2/PSP version. The SNES does however have add hidden bonus warps which are hard to find secret exits/objectives that lead you to a stage with a lot of bonus points to collect.
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
The Lion King
Lost Vikings Mega Drive/Genesis The game appeared on the SNES, Amiga, DOS, GBA and Mega Drive/Genesis. The GBA suffers the same thing in every port. Muffled music and smaller screen. While the Amiga and DOS ran on a soundchip close to midi and had missing background, the SNES had it's on interpretation and instrumentation that sounded better and a more complete look. The genesis looks similar to the SNES but sound closer to that of the Amiga and DOS. What sets these two apart is the Genesis had more levels to them then the SNES.
Lost Vikings 2 PC, Sega Saturn, Playstation The game has been completely remade using voice acting and per-rendered 3d graphics. Both have there pros and cons. The sprite work gives a more crisp cartoony feel while the 3d art, new music, and voice acting gives a more modern feel.
Mega Man X1
Mega Man 7
Mortal Komba
Mortal Kombat II
Mortal Kombat 3 XBLA, PS2, iOS With hardware limitation this game was another one that had to be whittled down. The best one is the now unavailable XBLA version so the next best thing is the PS2 versions and the Mortal Kombay Arcade Kollection. These 3 are relatively faithful to the arcade version. While the iOS is a remake with 3D renders. The game has since had many updates and now includes every characters. Finally a DS version with character saving features and mini games do exist
Paperboy 2
Pac-Attack
Pac-In-Time
Pac-Man 2
Prince of Persia
Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame
Secret of Mana iOS/Android, PC, PS4, Vita The iOS and android features bug fixes and a re-translation. In other news: Incoming 3D remake
Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts
Super Mario All-Stars Super Mario World GBA The first super Mario is available for the GBC in the Super Mario Deluxe. It features bonus missions as well as a strip down version of the lost levels. Graphics are the same but the play screen is much smaller. For Super Mario 2 and 3 and World, both games have been released for the GBA with new bosses, new features such as level revisiting, new side missions and collectathon and the fabled e-reader levels for 3. If you do not have a e-reader the Wii U version releases a version with all the levels added in already. Meanwhile Super Mario World advance version features the same changes 2 had but also includes Luigi with his own control scheme. All the remakes have their own voice acting now. The downside is the smaller play screen and music being of lower quality.
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island GBA As with all the Super Mario Advance, voice acting and new levels has been added. This all comes at the cost of graphical and audio quality, but not as noticeable as the DK Country series.
Wild Guns
Wolfenstein 3D Everything, even a calculator The SNES version is a bit striped down, I suggest the PC for ease of access, but any modern system will work.
Ys III: Wanderers from Ys PSP,PC A complete remake with new dungeons and a expanded story. The game is now running on a 3d engine
Zombies Ate My Neighbors

This is an ongoing list. Feel free to help.
