I'm hoping this is the right subreddit for this.

So a friend of mine just called in sick to his job. His employer wants him to get tested for the Corona virus before he can come back in.

The problem is that he can't find a hospital or urgent care place that will do the testing. The only way to get tested is seemingly through a primary care doctor, which he cannot afford.

So first, he called the local health department, and no one could give him a list of local places that tested people. So I directed him to the Georgia Department of Public Health website, which gave him a hotline number to call. He called, and no one answered.

He is about to head to the hospital, only because he doesn't know what else he's supposed to do. But this is obviously not an ideal solution for several reasons. And that's assuming the hospital will test him, which it may not. He needs to be able to work, because money.

So, for someone who can't afford medical care, what are his options for getting tested for the Corona virus?
