Hello all, I just wanted to make a post about an issue I recently came across with my 2018 Mazda 3 Touring Hatch. I've had the car for almost a year and just hit 10,000 miles.
Last week, I started noticing a bit of a squeak sound when turning the steering wheel. So that got me researching online.
I kept finding posts about other Mazda owner's having this same problem and when they brought it up to the dealer, the dealer claimed it was a faulty clock spring. However, even after the dealer replaced the clock spring, the squeaking came back.
Come to find out, it has nothing to do with the clock spring itself, but rather it's where the turn signal stock makes contact with the clock spring. There is a little piece of plastic on the signal stock that doesn't seem to be greased well enough and eventually causes a squeaking sound when the turn signal is engaged and you turn the wheel.
So I've linked a post for people to see how you access the turn signal stock in order to remove and re grease the little plastic part.
Hopefully this helps anyone who is having this issue.
This is for a 2015 Mazda 6 but it should be the same fo the gen 3 Mazda 3.
