Can someone help me with magical runes im developing for a story?

so im working on a story and part of it has to do with a set of cursed runes that the MC finds. but im having trouble truly grasping what kind of magic runes are capable of other then enchanting/cursing, and even with enchanting and cursing im still trying to understand it. can someone give me some pointers?
