I’ve posted before about how interesting I find it to be that Joan ends the series as a well-off, single mother who has been divorced twice, in spite of the fact that she is physically quite attractive. This is an aspect of Mad Men that has always intrigued me - that even beautiful women such as Betty and Trudy (though I sometimes get the impression that even though she’s played by Alison Brie, Trudy is supposed to be more average than Betty and Joan in universe) struggle in their relationships (although Betty’s relationship with Henry was definitely a lot healthier than her marriage to Don.)

This makes me wonder: what kind of person do you think Joan could have had a successful romantic relationship or marriage with? What personality traits do you think the individual in question would need?
