I've had this macbook for a while and looked after it. Upgraded the HDD ages ago, 235GB free so that isn't the root of the issue.
The current application will suddenly become unresponsive, then my mouse will stop moving entirely (keyboard still operates for some time, can CMD tab around) before the entire laptop becomes a temporary brick. After 10-15 minutes it begins responding.
Looking at activity monitor I am baffled as to how the numbers are so big. Please tell me what to do!
Things I have tried:
- Removed bootcamp
- Updated to Mavericks
- Uninstalled everything I don't use
- Close open apps (dashboard is never on) computer can freeze with 10 apps open or 2
- Ran a ton of file cleaners, Mackeeper etc
Screenshot of activity monitor (this is a bad example as I have lots of chrome tabs open trying to fix this, but I promise this happens even if chrome isn't open).
